Sask Wheat is a producer-led organization established in 2013 to grow Saskatchewan’s wheat industry.
Our vision is that wheat is a sustainable, profitable and internationally competitive crop, capturing the benefits for Saskatchewan farmers and the community. Our mission is to provide leadership in identifying and supporting research, market development and advocacy that contributes to profitable and sustainable wheat production for Saskatchewan farmers.
Our refundable levy of $1.00 per tonne goes toward research, market development and promotion initiatives that will lead to improved wheat varieties, enhanced marketability for Saskatchewan wheat and greater value to Saskatchewan’s wheat producers. The commission is directed by a board of seven farmers representing approximately 30,000 wheat producers in the province.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) is a not-for-profit organization representing and supporting approximately 15,000 pulse crop growers in Saskatchewan. SPG’s mandate is to provide leadership for a profitable Saskatchewan pulse industry through research, market development, and communications. Accountable to and funded by growers, SPG’s strategic direction is guided by a seven-member, producer-elected Board of Directors.

Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission (SaskFlax), established in 1996 represents nearly 5,000 registered producers in the province. Directed by a board of flax growers, the Commission operates via a mandatory but refundable levy on seed ($2.36 per tonne) and straw ($.50 per tonne). These dollars are leveraged whenever possible to execute programs ultimately geared to increase net returns to its producer members and advance Saskatchewan’s flax industry.
Board of Directors: Shane Stokke (Chair); Greg Sundquist (Vice Chair); Erwin Hanley; Jordon Hillier; Nancy Johns; and Dave Sefton provide direction while the Executive Director, Wayne Thompson manages the day to day affairs for the organization. Research, market facilitation and communication programs revolve around the Commission’s pillars including variety development, agronomy, human health and wellness; animal health and performance and complete plant utilization.

Our refundable levy of $1.06 per tonne goes toward funding research, market development and promotion initiatives that will lead to improved barley varieties, enhanced marketability and higher value for producers. The commission is directed by a six-member Board representing approximately 7,000 barley producers in the province.
